Round-up giving for local business.

Turn everyday purchases into local support.

Your customers round up their change at checkout. You pick the nonprofit, we total it up, and you send one donation a month.

Free during launch. No new hardware, and you never hand us your money.

Live on Square, Stripe, and Shopify today, in person and online, with WooCommerce stores supported too. Clover, Toast, and Shift4 are on the way.

Build point-of-sale or business software? We are committed to putting fundraising everywhere payments happen. Talk to us about integrating.

Three steps, then it runs itself.

Set it up once. The round-ups keep counting.

Frequently asked questions

For businesses

What does it cost?

Nothing during launch. Every business that joins now is on the free launch plan. When paid plans arrive, you will hear from us before anything changes.

Who moves the money?

You do. MakeTheDonation never holds or transfers your funds. We total the donations from your sales and send you a statement each month. You pay the charity directly, then mark the statement as sent.

What do my customers see?

It depends on the mode you pick. On the round-up pledge, nothing changes at checkout: no extra prompt, no extra button, no change to the receipt. On the customer-pays option, your staff offers a $1, $5, or $10 donation at the counter, or your online store offers it in the cart, and if the customer says yes it shows as a line on their receipt.

Which point of sale do you work with?

Square, Stripe, and Shopify today, in person and online, plus WooCommerce stores. Clover, Toast, and Shift4 are on the way.

How do I start?

Connect your point of sale from Get started. You pick your charity, choose how you want to give, and link your account. It takes a few minutes and there is no new hardware to install.

Can I change my mind later?

Yes. Your giving mode is a switch in Settings and takes effect right away. If you want to support a different charity, send us a message from the Support button in your dashboard.

For nonprofits

What does it cost?

Nothing. There is no fee for nonprofits and no cut taken out of what a business sends you. They pay you in full.

How do we join?

Create your account, fill in a short profile, and submit it for review. A real person reads it, usually within two business days.

How does the money reach us?

Directly from each business. At the end of every month each business supporting you gets a statement with their total, and they pay you using the payment instructions on your profile. Nothing routes through us.

What do we need to sign up?

Your EIN, a short description of what you do, the payment instructions a business should follow when they pay you, and a contact email. Those are required before you can submit. A contact name, phone, logo, and website are optional and make your public page look finished.

How do businesses find us?

Usually because you asked them. Once you are approved, your portal gives you a link to your public page, a signup link that already has your organization selected, a message you can paste into an email, and a flyer you can print.

How do we know a donation arrived?

Your portal lists every statement and whether the business has marked it as sent. When the money lands in your account you confirm it received, so both sides hold the same record.

Your next sale can support a cause you believe in.
